All of my life I have been athletic. I have participated in a few beach lifeguard competitions a number of 5k’s, triathlons and even the MS 150. In high school I ran track, played lacrosse and swam. I even had the opportunity to swim on the D1 level but decided to coach age group children while obtaining my undergrad degree. After receiving my Masters in Education and finding that there weren’t many teaching opportunities available, I decided to go Active in the US Coast Guard. This is when I fell in love with CrossFit! With my coaching and athletic background CrossFit gave me the opportunity to put my passion to teach others to use. CrossFit has done so much for me that I wanted to share my experience with others. It made fitness fun again and I belong to a community of likeminded people! Opening CrossFit SteadFast has been a dream come true and I can’t wait to help build the CrossFit community in Savannah!

I have been CrossFitting since 2010 and have been coaching since 2011. I have been athletic my whole life. I played basketball and mixed in tennis, track, and cross-country in my off season. I always wanted to be a coach, but I never wanted to teach in a classroom environment. When I was twenty-seven years old CrossFit found me. Well, Brian actually introduced it to me, but I knew on day one I was hooked for life. I absolutely LOVE, love, love my “job” as a CF coach. Helping people change their lives is something amazing to be a part of. I am currently Level 1 certified and look forward to continuing my education as a coach.

I discovered CrossFit a couple of years ago after growing tired of the same old routine at the gym. I felt like I was wasting hours of my afternoon and not much to show for it. I was a total gym-noob, sticking with things I was comfortable with, not pushing myself, and generally clueless. Once I stepped foot through the bay door going to the gym finally became something fun and challenging. I was tapping in to mental and physical realms that I didn’t know existed in me.

My experiences made me want to help others in their fitness journey. I love watching other people find that next level in themselves, and I want everyone to walk out of the gym feeling a little stronger, faster, and/or sexier than when they walked in. Walking through the door is a huge step. My job as a coach is to make sure anyone with the courage to do that also have the same fun, exciting, and life-changing CrossFit SteadFast experience that I fell in love with when I started.

My husband (at the time friend) introduced me to the CrossFit world over three years ago and I haven’t looked back. I couldn’t even tell you what I did at our campus gym because it did not compare to the love and addiction I found with CrossFit. I grew up playing competitive soccer in Southern California, lacrosse, track and field (sprinter – no long distance for me), tennis and a little hockey after I moved to Montana. Before completing my CF L1 certification, I made it a goal of mine to begin competing and have a good grasp on all of the movements before coaching others. I had a setback when I tore my ACL in Nov. 2011 during a soccer game. I went 7 months before having surgery and lived in Spain for about 5 of those months and traveled throughout Europe. I dropped in to about 5 different CrossFit boxes throughout my travels and my passion for functional fitness and throwing weight around was solidified. The message remains the same throughout cultures. No matter the language, country or people – CrossFit is universal. I returned home to the states, had knee surgery and spent about a year and a half rehabbing and using CrossFit as a form of rehab. I graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Exercise Physiology and Spanish and began coaching at the box where it all started for me and where my husband coached (CrossFit Emergence, now 5 Valleys CrossFit). I am beyond thankful and blessed to continue my love of coaching and training down here in Savannah at CrossFit SteadFast. Feel free to ask me anything and always remember to never sell yourself short. Anyone who walks through the doors of a box is an athlete. Challenge yourself; train hard and you will see results. Leave your ego out of it and strive for progress, not perfection.

Fitness has always been a passion of mine. Growing up I was active in many sports. I was very small through my adolescent years and found myself looking through any muscle magazine I could, finding inspiration through guys who worked hard and the results displayed by there fit bodies. I started lifting weights consistently in 8th where my addiction for the iron began.

In 2006, as a sophomore in high school, I found CrossFit through a colleague at a fitness center that I was working at after school hours. I immediately fell in love, performing all the old WODs in a globo gym driving the members mad. I received a B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Montana, and during my time there used CrossFit as my primary source of strength and conditioning. I trained friends and athletes, programmed my own WODs, and soon started coaching at a CrossFit gym after receiving my CF-L1.

That same passion for fitness carried over into my everyday life with a passion to serve my country and protect the people I love. I enlisted in the United States Army following my graduation from college in 2013. The army has brought me to Savannah, where I have been able to assist our community in pursuit of a healthier and stronger lifestyle. I love CrossFit because of the boundaries people push there body past, and the beautification of movement during workouts. It has been a blessing coaching alongside my wife at CrossFit SteadFast and helping this community grow in Savannah.

I began CrossFit in March of 2013 after being introduced to it by a friend. I have always enjoyed being active and after trying my first workout, I was hooked. Growing up, I participated in power lifting, football and baseball, but had never experienced anything like CrossFit. I found a sense of community and support that is unmatched anywhere else. Though CrossFit, I have found that I am capable of much more physically than I felt was possible, and decided that I wanted to share that experience with others. As I grew as a CrossFit athlete, I knew that I wanted it to be a bigger part of my life. I am of the opinion that knowledge is imperative to success in any endeavor, athletics included, and so I pursued my CF L1 certification in the summer of 2015. It is my goal as a coach to provide a great experience and to share my love of this sport with all and to encourage everyone to pursue their dreams.

My journey began as a young adolescent whose athletic background included backyard football near the ants hills in my neighborhood, forced recreational league sports by my parents, a brown belt in karate, and forming a high school breakdance crew (called “Soulicious”) with my friends in the 9th grade. All the while, I have always had a creative mind for art that was unmatched by the rest of my family. My passion for drawing brought me to Savannah, GA where I acquired my B.F.A in animation at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

It was here where I met some of the most influential people of my life. One of which was Eddie Concepción. When he told me the story around the Barbells for Boobs fundraiser, I found myself drawn in to doing my first workout called “Grace” not really knowing what a clean and jerk actually was! There was something alluring about the love, passion, and honesty, the pain that CrossFit bestowed in me that day that in October 2015 I finally joined the CrossFit SteadFast family!

I now want to use my CrossFit Level 1 Certification to be a world changer and to utilize the gifts that I was given to serve. Nothing brings me more excitement than knowing that I have the opportunity to influence others, and they influence me every day that I step into the gym.

I’ve been active my whole life. I began playing sports as a kid, everything from baseball, soccer, hockey and basketball; I always seemed to be hiking, biking, or enjoying the outdoors. In high school, I played freshman baseball, but switched to cross country (yes, you read that right) and track and field. In college, I discovered rugby and fell in love with it; at West Point, I played division 1 rugby for 4 years. Leaving West Point, I no longer had a “sport”, so I became a standard gym rat lifting back, bi’s, chest and tri’s.

My brother introduced me to CrossFit in 2011, but I didn’t make it my main training methodology right away. I did WOD workouts occasionally, but wasn’t very consistent. When I moved to Savannah, I found Crossfit Steadfast and immediately joined. Coaching has been a goal for the past 6 to 7 years; with less deployment time, I am looking forward to sharing my passion for Crossfit with everyone and growing as a coach.
